A Quick Note About Dreams
I don’t know about you, but I have been having a lot of dreams lately. Nothing too scary or over-the-top, and not much that I remember. I do remember being in a dark city scene and then the Millennium Falcon comes in low over the city and hovers there. Make of that what you will.
Our subconscious minds communicate to us in various ways, and one of them is through dreaming. And because the subconscious mind is also home to imagination and creativity, but not logic, the communication comes through in symbolism. So, this is a rather long way of saying our dreams can be communications from our deeper minds.
But this isn’t always the case. Dreams can also be the result of the mind’s routine processing, the sorting of the information, feelings and experiences of the day. We only get a small window into this process, and because we try to interpret it with our conscious, logical minds, it doesn’t always make too much sense to us.
Dreams can sometimes leave us feeling scared or uneasy, and we can assume that those feelings must mean something. But dreams only have the meaning and significance that we attach to them, and this can be a positive or negative thing. So, if we have a recurring dream or a dream that catches our attention, we may think about what the symbols could represent and what is being communicated through them. We can use those dreams as a great resource for inspiration or guidance. We may also get hung up on a dream, convinced that it must mean something or that perhaps it’s prophetic, when it may have just been our minds processing and “taking out the garbage” so-to-speak.
I am writing this during the Coronavirus pandemic of 2020 and I have noticed that many friends and family members seem to be dreaming a lot too. It makes sense, our minds are processing a lot these days. So, if you are finding that you are dreaming a lot, take it as a good sign that your mind is doing its healthy processing, and perhaps even cleaning up a bit!
P.S. If you ever want to gain a better understanding of your dreams and what they mean, hypnotherapy is great for that!
